Knowledge Network - Canada's Biosphere Reserves
/Dee Patriquin of Solstice had the privilege of being part of a documentary film on Canada's biosphere reserves. The film will touch on the transfer of science that can happen from these 'demonstration landscapes'. The idea of a UNESCO biosphere reserve is to promote sustainable development, through research and education, and public engagement. This installation of a pond leveller at the Saddle Lake Cree Nation was based on research done by Dr. Glynnis Hood in the Beaver Hills Biosphere, near Edmonton - it's a great example of research being exported and used well beyond the boundaries of the reserve!
